Josh and S.A.M.
Twelve-year-old Josh, a master storyteller, convinces his younger brother, Sam that he is a Strategically Altered Mutant (S.A.M.) created by the Pentagon as a child warrior. To save him from being sent to war, they make a daring escape. So begins the story of two young brothers who flee from their unhappy home lives and embark on a cross-country adventure.
In the movie, the brothers travel from Dallas to Calgary and see everything from wheatfields to bright city lights. The production company required an area that could look like seven different states-among them, Florida. Billings, Montana was chosen to portray 90 of the various locations that appear in the film, while scenes were also shot in Hardin, Laurel, and Columbus, Montana. To film Josh and S.A.M., Castle Rock Entertainment spent three months in Montana during the summer of 1992.
