Supaman is a Native American hip-hop artist from Montana who mixes traditional Native dance and music with modern rap. His real name is Chritian Parrish Takes the Gun, and he is a member of the Apsáalooke (Crow) Nation.
Supaman was born in Seattle, Washington, but grew up in Crow Agency, Montana, on the Crow Reservation south of Billings. As a kid he learned fancy dancing in full regalia and later discovered hip-hop, which gave him a new way to talk about his life, his tribe, and his beliefs.
He first performed with a Native hip-hop group called Rezawrecktion, then began making his own albums and music videos as Supaman. In his shows he often raps, beatboxes, DJs, and does fancy dance all in one performance, using both drum beats and modern hip-hop sounds.
Supaman still lives in Montana and travels to schools, festivals, and events across the United States and other countries, sharing messages of hope, pride, and respect for Native cultures. His songs and viral videos like "Prayer Loop Song" and "Why" have earned him awards such as an MTV Video Music Award for "Best Fight Against the System" and several Native American music honors.
