Monte A. Dolack was born on May 23, 1950, in Great Falls, Montana, and he now lives and works in Missoula. After studying art at Montana State University and the University of Montana, he opened his first studio in the mid?1970s and became well known for his ?Invader Series,? which shows animals like ducks or bears playfully taking over kitchens, bathrooms, and living rooms. Dolack paints posters, watercolors, and lithographs that celebrate Montana rivers, mountains, and wildlife, and his art has been used to help groups like The Nature Conservancy, Trout Unlimited, and Vital Ground protect wild places. Today he is considered one of the best?known artists in Montana and a key figure in the visual arts of the American West, with his work collected around the world.
